About DDF Dance Studio

I am the Owner/director and Head choreographer at DDF Dance Studio I established DDF Dance when I was 18 years old in 2008.
DDF dance is now in Auckland, Otahuhu feb 2023 ( which has been a long term goal/dream ) I love to dance, teach and develop students to be the best versions of them. My main goal and reason why I opened DDF Dance was to give the opportunity of dance to our far north community as when I grew up in Kaikohe “I wanted to be a dancer” but there were no dance programs of such to explore these options in my childhood and we couldn’t afford to travel. I eventually took my first class at 14 years old and was hired to teach for Hardcore Dance Company Kerikeri the following term.
Background
We have classes for all ages male and female. We cater for Beginner, intermediate and advance levels of dance. DDF offers classes to people who have never danced before to those who have had experience and advance skills. We have a class for everyone.
DDF offers a safe learning environment, exclusive to all male and female of all ages. We have just male classes but we also offer mixed gender classes.
We really care about our students and their development, my speciality is developing students. I am very passionate to cater to each student individually as every one learns different and are unique individuals.
DDF offers a 10 week workshop followed by an end of term dance showcase for all our students to participate, develop and grow their skills as a dancer, performer and to help build self confidence. Our job at DDF is to teach a 8 count, grooves and move each student from Beg, int to advance Levels.
Over the 10 week workshop you will learn 2- 3 dance routines with performance skills possible use of props, formations, spacial awareness, musically, dance language, fitness, wellbeing and much more.
DDF offers a variety of Dance styles but our main clientele wants are for Hip Hop based choreography dance.
DDF also offer Lyrical, JazzFunk, Grooves and Whackking, Poping and bboying, Contemporary and our adult classes are Burlesque Hip Hop Heels, Beg Sexyfit and Int Hip Hop.
We also offer – Tutor Hire eg schools, events ECT. Hen and Stag nights. We offer performing and entertainment hire. Privates one on one sessions and much more
Our Exercise classes we offer that incorporate dance are our Mums & Bubs Class and Dancefit.
We are looking at starting a family dance together dance class in the future eg dad and daughter, Mum and son ect.
DDF has a Diva Academy/ Novice Diva which is our development team, this is a group that wants to develop quicker and have the opportunity to compete at competition and perform throughout the year at community events – check our crews page for more information. This particular group involves more commitment and parent support but if you are interested please feel free to talk to Alannah about this.
I ( Alannah Curtis ) started teaching when I was 14 years old for The Hardcore Dance Company run by Annalise Morris ( Whangarei ).I have been running DDF Dance since 2008. I have taught and had business all over the far north to name a few – Kerikeri, Okaihau, Russell ect.
I have been creating and choreographing for dance crews since 2004. I have performed and taught internationally and Nationally. I have done many up skilling workshops with big idols and choreographers such as “PARRIS GOEBEL” “KEONE & MARI” “CHA CHI” “MIKE SONG” and so much more.
I have upskilled at Asia Camp Thailand Phuket 2016/2017 and touched hands with all the top choreographers from all over the world “Hollywood, Lando, Lyle, Ian Eastwood, Brian Puspos, Ria Hata, Jahn Haa and many more. Ive starred in many dance videos to name a few Duc Ahn Trans YouTube Video while I was at Asia Camp which was hosted by Di Moon Zhang (IAMME CREW) also in Sasha Shermans Dance Video.
In 2018-2019have been to LA to all the top Studios Millennium, Playground, Movement Lifestyle, Immabeast. And touch hands with amazing mentors, choreographers and dancers.
Starred on a “Isreal Star ft Tomorrow people Music video and more.
I have a NCEA Level 4 “Maori Contemporary Performing arts” AUT. Starred on a “13part series” television program on “Maori Television TE MIKA SHOW” , Opened with Vice Versa for “TECH N9NE”,also DDF crews have opened for “ANNIE CRUMMER” “TITANIUM” “PITER T” “GINNY BLACKMORE” “TROY KINGI” “MYA” and much more
I have back up danced for “MYA”.
In 2020 I worked in Melbourne at KSTAR studio – Urban Nation studio – SHOD and Two shoes dance academy.
I am a tutor that is very involved in my students classes and like to have my students best interests at heart, by learning each students and classes capabilities and working to their skills individually.
DDF dance is about creating opportunities for our community and creating pathways. And most importantly encouraging students to follow their dreams and to believe in themselves.
We take dance crews every year to the HHI Dance Competition,and recently started to compete at Battles Grounds -Leads to World Supremacy Battle Grounds and Battle in the Bay Hastings.
We perform throughout the communities all the time parades, bfree day, local community events, busking and much more. We are available to hire for performances/entertainment and tutor hire. I work in schools, kinder, daycare and much more.
